I work as a Solution Architect and IT consultant and have been involved for many years in the design, implementation, and operation of complex IT systems.

My first experiences with computers date back to a time long before cloud services and mobile apps—starting with home computers, early PCs, and later Unix, Linux, and database systems. That era has shaped my perspective on technology to this day: systems should be understandable, reliable, and thoughtfully designed.

Professionally, my focus is on IT architectures, databases, and application landscapes. I design solutions, support their implementation, and help ensure stable operations—with a clear emphasis on structure, sustainability, and maintainability.

Alongside my professional work, I am deeply engaged with classic Apple hardware, retro computing, and photography. Preserving historical computer systems, extending them, and meaningfully connecting them with modern technology is more than a hobby for me—it is a form of technical documentation.

This website is a personal, long-term, public, and non-commercial project by Frank Meiners.

It serves as a place to collect projects, texts, and images—intentionally kept simple, partly created with older tools, and free from unnecessary distractions. A small homage to a time when websites were still handcrafted.

The main focus is on analog and digital photography, retro computing, the history of technology, architecture, industrial heritage, and historical cameras.

In addition to photographic series, the website documents work with historical computer systems, classic operating systems, and vintage hardware and software.
